Thomas C. Witherspoon is an associate attorney with Stinson, Lasswell & Wilson, L.C. and is licensed in Kansas and Missouri. Thomas was previously in-house counsel for a non-bank non-mortgage U.S. consumer lender and presents on the subject of consumer financial services law to national and state industry groups. Thomas can counsel your business on the Consumer Financial Protection Act (Dodd-Frank Act) and CFPB regulation; Federal Trade Commission Act; Consumer Credit Protection Act, including the Truth In Lending Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, Equal Credit Opportunity Act, Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, and Electronic Fund Transfer Act; Telephone Consumer Protection Act; Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act; and various state consumer protection acts, as well as the Uniform Commercial Code. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Classics from the University of Notre Dame in 2006 and graduated with his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Kansas School of Law in 2014. In law school, he was on Moot Court Council and honored for excellence in both Commercial Law and Consumer Law. He also practices in other areas, as outlined below.
